Eddie Thomas has worked in the arts and cultural sectors for over 35 years. He worked in the popular music industry as a session guitarist and played classical double bass with the Philharmonia, London Symphony and London Philharmonic Orchestras before moving into management, where he worked at all levels from shop floor to the boardroom.
Eddie was the Artistic Executive Director of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Society where he was responsible for the organisation’s artistic reputation, strategic planning and commercial income generation before joining Arts Council England where he oversaw a portfolio of nationally acclaimed arts and creative industries organisations. In 2009 he was recruited to a senior management team to create and run a national assessment centre for lottery grants. Employing over fifty people, the centre assessed over 7,000 applications, and distributed £60 million of lottery money each year.
Eddie left Arts Council England in 2013 to set up his own consultancy – a long standing ambition. Throughout his career he has worked on a vast range of initiatives encompassing strategic planning, fund raising, capital builds, business start-ups, training, organisational change and policy development.
